Cycling fanatic Tony joined Edward Charles in 1994. Renowned for his enthusiasm and original thinking, Tony enjoys long term relationships with many clients: advertising agency Bartle Bogle Hegarty and Scarborough Developments both for c.20 years, House of Fraser for 15 years, and many others.
He entered the industry because of a ‘curiosity with all things property and design’ and enjoys being at the coalface as an equity partner at Edward Charles. Current development work includes 3 schemes between 15,000 and 40,000 sq ft in W1 and several projects for The Bedford Estates. He brings his acquisition experience to the table when advising developers on Tenant's needs. He has also helped a number of media start-ups in their early forays into property occupation.
Interests are broad, including choral singing (most recently on Britain's Got Talent as a member of the Missing People Charity Choir).
Charlie has 30 years’ experience of office development, letting, sales and acquisitions in the increasingly high-profile areas of Central London: Midtown, Southbank and the City fringe, including the niche markets of Covent Garden, Soho and Holborn.
Over the years, Charlie has enjoyed working with many different clients in the design and letting of a wide range of building styles, from new developments to creative warehouses, maximising their value for clients. His favourite building inspection is always a month or so after an occupier has moved in and is trading successfully, ensuring that both Landlord and Tenant are happy.
Charlie works closely with a large range of clients including The Design Council, Shaftesbury PLC, Capital and Counties, Dorrington, TH Real Estate, Columbia Threadneedle and Hermes.
Ian is an Associate Partner at Edward Charles, with over 5 years' experience and counting in the Central London market. He acts on a diverse range of acquisition and disposal projects for a variety of private and institutional clients.
Some of Ian's clients include: Columbia Threadneedle, London & Regional, Brockton Capital, UK & European, The Bedford Estates, Weybourne Partners, Resolution and Chelsfield.
Having grown up in Africa Ian is very fond of the outdoors and wildlife conservation. He also enjoys a round of golf in his spare time and is better than both Sean and Mark (maybe not Mark).
He regularly hits 20,000 steps on his step counter undertaking daily inspections.
Sean, is an Associate Partner, he realised Central London office agency was for him in the very first year of his career, when he assisted with two stand-out deals whilst at Cluttons, having joined straight from his Oxford Brookes undergraduate degree in 2012: he helped mobile technology company Weve to find a home at 100 New Oxford Street, and did the same for SEI at AlphaBeta on Finsbury Square.
Following this, he agreed to pursue his passion for Central London office agency by joining the firm in 2013 and has since relished working on particularly exciting projects for major clients including Derwent London, Almacantar and Legal & General Property.
In his spare time, Sean plays centre for London Irish Wild Geese, and enjoys playing golf in the summer months.
Nick joined Edward Charles in 2016 after 15 years with BNP Paribas Real Estate where he was a Senior Director and Head of the West End Lease Advisory team. An established advisor and experienced expert witness in the Central London Landlord and Tenant market, he regularly advises clients on large and complex rent reviews, lease renewals and lease restructures together with wider strategy advice.
He regularly acts for clients such as the TH Real Estate, the Parliamentary Estate, the Howard de Walden Estate, the Crown Estate and occupiers such as Channel Four, Transport for London, Double Negative and Telereal Trillium.
David has a lifelong passion for London, and joined Edward Charles in April 1989, having done a successful rent review against someone at the firm. “They were a group of agents who knew they needed a ‘Landlord & Tenant’ man, and I was a ‘Landlord & Tenant’ man who knew I needed to be surrounded by agents,” he explains.
He has since drawn on the agency’s market knowledge along with his own daily immersion in the Central London Landlord and Tenant arena to offer well-researched, reasoned and persuasive Rent Review, Lease Renewal and Lease Restructure advice, negotiation and, if necessary, dispute resolution. David regularly acts as an expert witness in arbitration and court proceedings, and acts for a large number of major property investors and occupiers, including Hermes Real Estate, Threadneedle Investments, Derwent London, Deluxe, Bluecrest Capital, Comic Relief, Harbottle and Lewis, Mishcon de Reya, Olswang and House of Fraser.
Named as one of the Top 10 rent review surveyors in Britain by Property Week in June 2008, the keen kayaker and tennis player says his standout career moments have to be the times he’s been asked to do rent reviews by his own peers, including DTZ, Lambert Smith Hampton and CBRE.
One of the mainstays of the West End office agency market, Jamie counts Great Portland Estates, Derwent London, Threadneedle, The Bedford Estates and the Howard de Walden Estate among his regular clients.
He joined Edward Charles in 1999, and is a niche agent to the core: his career highlight was returning to Edward Charles in 2009 after a brief “sabbatical” at larger firm Knight Frank.
Property’s lasting appeal for Jamie comes from meeting new people, being out and about, and having an increasingly creative focus on disciplines such as design and branding. He specialises in both lease acquisition and disposal, and frequently gives leasing advice on investment deals.
Charles founded Edward Charles with Eddie Lesley in 1980 following a period at Strutt & Parker. He advises major occupiers such as Capital International and Mishcon De Reya on their offices as well as developers and investors such as London & Regional, Prestbury Investment Holdings and Great Portland Estates Plc.
Jonathan, Edward Charles’ recent recruit joined the team in 2018 after completing his masters in Real Estate at Cass Business School. He has now started his journey towards qualifying as a chartered surveyor working with the lease advisory and agency teams.
Mark joined Edward Charles at the tender age of 19 in October 1984, after being introduced to firm co-founder Charles Okin during a cricket match. He learned on the job, and has since become one of the best known office agents in the West End, counting a stint as chairman of the West End Office Agents society among his honours.
Mark has advised prestigious corporate clients over his 30-year tenure at Edward Charles, including the University of Liverpool, for whom he acquired an 85,000 sq ft campus on Finsbury Square in 2013. He also gives agency, development and investment advice to BAE Systems, acquiring them a headquarters in St James’s in 1999, and other long-standing clients include media company Ten Alps and property investor Amsprop.
Mark, who lives in Woodford Green, Essex, has volunteered for the last four years together with his wife and daughter for Crisis at their Christmas shelters in East London. He’s a golf obsessive with a handicap of four, and has represented Team GB in the Transatlantic Cup twice, and at the European and Maccabiah Games in Israel.
Katie joined Edward Charles in 2016 having completed an undergraduate degree in Real Estate at the University of the West of England, Bristol. She has since worked to achieve her professional status.
Katie works in both the agency and lease advisory teams, giving her the opportunity to work on a range of projects.
Some of Katie's clients include Orchard Street, Columbia Threadneedle, Weybourne Partners and Hermes Real Estate.
Andrew joined Edward Charles from university in 1998, after obtaining a first class honours degree. He achieved RICS professional qualification during a short stint with JLL, before moving back to the firm in May 2001.
Today, he specialises in all areas of West End office agency, regularly working with leading landlords including Resolution, Legal & General, Lazari Investments, Hermes Real Estate, Thor Equities and Threadneedle as well as prestigious tenants such as The Mill, Etsy, HKS and a range of successful finance houses.
Craig’s career plan was always to excel in niche practices and indeed started out in smaller independent firms including Hodnett Martin Smith. With the success of HMS Craig soon found himself at DTZ which later became Cushman & Wakefield where he directed the market leading West End office agency team.
Craig is fortunate to count Land Securities, Great Portland Estates, Astrea Asset Management, Grafton Advisors, Lothbury Investment Management, Hermes and CPPIB amongst his regular clients. Having now seen both sides of the coin he has chosen to return to his roots. He thrives at the coal face and is keen to hone his 20 years of experience to provide clients with partnership led service in a personal focused way.
